On Wednesday 20 November, Moorcrofts hosted a charity quiz at Claytons in Marlow to raise funds for its charity of the year, SpecialEffect.

The money raised throughout the evening, which saw 13 teams come together to compete in the pub style quiz, totalled an amazing £900. The members of the winning team, “No Win No Fee”, were from The Georgian Group, rfxcel Corporation, PassMedicine Ltd and Defaqto. Each team member was awarded a £20 Pizza Express Voucher and bottle of wine.

The evening also included a raffle, with lots of fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses including: Laurent-Perrier, Hewetts of Marlow, Space NK, The Marlow Brewery – Rebellion Beer Co, Marlow Bookshop, Zero and Low Alcohol Shop, Pizza Express, Burgers’ of Marlow and SpecialEffect.

Julia Ferguson, Head of Moorcrofts Charity Committee, said:

“We are really pleased to be working with SpecialEffect as our charity partner for the year. This was our first official event in support of the Charity and we were delighted to have been able to raise such a fantastic amount to help support the work that SpecialEffect does. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and took part in the quiz and to Claytons for use of the pub for the evening and also to all the businesses who generously donated raffle prizes.”

SpecialEffect is a charity that puts fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by offering bespoke technology to enable them to play video games.  By levelling the playing field, they bring families and friends together, having a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.
