At Moorcrofts, we believe in giving back.

Supporting charitable causes and making a difference in our local communities is something we care deeply about. It’s part of who we are – not just as a law firm, but as a team of people who want to use our time and resources to help others.

Championing Charitable Causes

We support a wide range of charitable organisations through workplace fundraising events, community volunteering, and donations. These efforts are led by our charity committee, made up of volunteers from across the firm who help coordinate activities and encourage involvement from all corners of Moorcrofts.

Over the past two years, our team has supported and raised over £5,000 for a range of charities, including:

Our local charity partner: Kidney Research UK, with a particular focus on IgA nephropathy

Kidney Research UK is currently Moorcrofts’ Charity of the Year. Our fundraising will support the charity’s work to improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease, with a particular focus on IgA nephropathy.

The charity is a cause that is particularly close to our hearts. The decision to support Kidney Research UK followed the diagnosis of IgA nephropathy in the daughter of our Senior Legal Secretary, Mercedes Misquitta. Lucia has been receiving treatment and dialysis, and Mercedes recently donated a kidney to her daughter.

Throughout our partnership, we are organising fundraising activities and encouraging colleagues to get involved in supporting the charity’s vital work.

In October 2026, more than 20 members of the Moorcrofts team took part in a 200km cycling challenge at our office, raising £2,310 for Kidney Research UK. Inspired by the fact that kidneys filter around 200 litres of blood every day, colleagues took turns on exercise bikes throughout the day to complete the challenge.

Previous charity partners

Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP)

Moorcrofts previously supported Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP), an organisation that supports children and adults with additional needs, along with their siblings, parents and carers.

TVAP provides specialist indoor and outdoor play, recreational and learning facilities for people with physical or learning disabilities, sensory impairments, behavioural difficulties, autism or social disadvantages, offering an inclusive and supportive space where everyone is welcome.

During our partnership, we supported TVAP through a range of activities, including:

  • Volunteering our time to help maintain the playground’s grounds.
  • Hosting a quiz night, raising £1,190.
  • Hosting a bingo night, raising £2,500 for TVAP and £2,500 for the Young Futures Fund.
  • Organising further fundraising activities.

SpecialEffect

We have previously supported SpecialEffect, a charity that uses technology to enhance the quality of life for people with physical disabilities, helping them to play video games, interact with others, and access communication tools.

During our partnership, we raised over £5,000 through a combination of in-office fundraising events, a race night and pub quiz, team challenges, and external donations.

Getting involved in the community

Beyond charity partnerships, Moorcrofts is committed to active local engagement.

Highlights include:

  • Community Investor: A recognised Community Investor for Heart of Bucks/Young Futures Fund.
  • Marlow Santa Fun Run: We are proud sponsors of this beloved annual event organised by the Rotary Club of Marlow. As well as taking part in the run itself, our team volunteers as marshals, helps with the drinks stalls and with event logistics such as leafleting and packing runners’ kits.
  • Reading Legal Walk: In September 2025, members of our team joined the local legal community in the 10km Reading Legal Walk to raise funds for charities providing free legal advice across Reading and the Thames Valley.
  • Bingo Night: In October 2025, hosted a charity bingo night in conjunction with Seymour Taylor, raising £2,500 for Thames Valley Adventure Playground and £2500 for the Young Futures Fund.
