Andrew Katz to speak at OpenAtom Global Open Source Summit

Moorcrofts Joint Managing Partner and Head of Technology, Andrew Katz will speak at the 2022 OpenAtom Global Open Source Summit, taking place in Beijing from  27 to 29 July, 2022.

Hosted and organised by OpenAtom Foundation, the three day summit entitled: ‘Software Defines the World, Open Source Builds the Future’, aims to promote the construction of a high-level open source foundation, create excellent open source projects, deepen the application of open source technology, consolidate open source infrastructure, popularise open source culture, improve open source governance mechanisms and governance rules, strengthen open source international cooperation, and accelerate the prosperity of the domestic open source ecology.

Andrew will virtually deliver a keynote on ‘Open Hardware: context, licensing and opportunities’ on 29 July, 15:25-15:55(Beijing Time), covering the following topics:

  • What is open hardware?
  • How is open hardware licensed?
  • About open silicon (gateware)
  • Open silicon in context
  • Open silicon internationally
  • The European Commission Study (2021)

Andrew will be available live after the session to answer any questions and participate in the compliance sub-forum.

Starting with an opening ceremony, the summit will consist of a main forum, more than ten open source sub-forums, as well as open source exhibitions, round tables, flash speeches and open source night theme activities. 

The summit is expected to attract at least 2,000 international open source leaders, outstanding developers, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering and experts from top universities and research institutes, entrepreneurs and representatives of start-ups to attend.
