Double the effort from Moorcrofts at the Marlow Half Marathon
It was an early start for our energetic and enthusiastic Moorcrofts team on Sunday 5 November, together with some friends and family, as they arrived at Marlow Sports Club, ready to participate in the Marlow Half Marathon and the Marlow 7.
Our runners set off at 9.30am, after a short walk over to the start line at Higginson Park followed by the starting pistol.
Glorious sunshine shone down upon the course, which meandered through serene views and idyllic landscapes comprising mostly of gentle inclines, steep climbs and downhill segments across the countryside, through woodland roads and the town centre.
Even the tough and challenging nature of the course, acknowledged as one of the toughest race courses in the UK, was not enough to take the smile away from our exhausted runners after crossing the finishing line, all in respectable finishing times.
Ian Hylton, partner of Moorcrofts commented: “It was an excellent and well-organised event. Well done to the Moorcrofts team who worked really hard to get race fit and who all did extremely well today!”
A special mention goes to Moorcrofts’ Office Manager, Helen Matthews, who confused spectators by running the Marlow 7 next to identical twin sister Julie! The ladies ran in identical times, and also raised a fantastic £225 for the Coeliac Society.
