Companies House Breach and what you need to do now

Companies House Breach and what you need to do now

19th March 2026

On 13 March 2026 Companies House confirmed a significant security incident affecting it’s WebFiling service. The issue may have allowed authorised users to view and edit details belonging to other companies,  including access to certain non-public company data and the potential for unauthorised filings. Information potentially affected includes directors’ residential addresses, dates of birth, and company contact details.

While the issue has now been resolved, the incident raises risks around identity fraud and the integrity of company records.

Recommended actions

  • Review your company’s filings to confirm accuracy
  • Monitor for any unexpected changes or notifications
  • Ensure filing credentials are secure and access is limited

The matter has been reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office, and investigations are ongoing.
