Leading Corporate Law Firm, Moorcrofts has announced SpecialEffect as its charity of the year.

In 2007, Dr Mick Donegan founded the charity SpecialEffect, which uses specialised technology to enhance access to video games and creative self-expression for people with a wide range of disabilities. By using technology ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, SpecialEffect find a way for people to play video games to the very best of their abilities. But they are not just doing it for fun. By levelling the playing field, SpecialEffect bring families and friends together and have a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.

SpecialEffect has been carefully selected as Moorcrofts charity for the next 12 months by Moorcrofts partners and management team.

Andrew Katz, Moorcrofts CEO and Technology Partner, said:

“As specialists in technology law, SpecialEffect is a very good fit as a charity partner for Moorcrofts to support. SpecialEffect is a fantastic charity that is continuously developing gaming software to enable people with disabilities to access leisure technology and play video games. We are excited about the partnership and the team are very keen to get involved in the fundraising events and activities planned and welcome any support and donations to the charity throughout the year.”

Moorcrofts team are already looking forward to being part of SpecialEffect’s calendar of events to raise funds for the charity, from the Twin Town Challenge car rally, to games marathons, karting nights and a variety of runs and other physical challenge events.

Tom Donegan, Fundraising Team Lead for SpecialEffect, said:

“We are delighted that Moorcrofts has chosen SpecialEffect to be their charity of the year! This partnership will provide a huge boost to us, not only in terms of donations but also by raising awareness of our work within the company and the wider community, which is so important as demand for our services continues to grow. We’re really looking forward to getting to know the team at Moorcrofts and working together over the next 12 months to make a big difference to the lives of severely disabled people across the UK.”
