Andrew Katz speaks at University of Skövde in Sweden
Andrew was in Sweden visiting clients and continuing research at the University of Skövde into issues around the implementation of Open Source software in business. The highlight of his trip was the opportunity to address the members of the LIM-IT project. Andrew is on the steering committee of LIM-IT, and the corporate members include Saab, Scania (part of the VW Group), Husqvarna, PrimeKey and others. For more information, see: http://www.his.se/en/Research/informatics/Software-Systems-Research-Group/LIM-IT/
He also met Lars Niklasson (the Vice Chancellor the University of Skövde) to discuss some of the work that he is doing in a team led by Bitr. Professor Björn Lundell of the Software Systems Research Group in Skövde. That work includes approving a list of standards which meet the definition of ‘open standard’, and list that Andrew was working on has now been adopted by the Swedish government and forms part of official Swedish procurement policy.
Andrew was in Brussels in February discussing the work with officials at DG:CONNECT who are interested in the extending the Swedish model to cover EU procurement in general.
