Moorcrofts is delighted to announce the promotion of Usha Guness to Senior Associate and Heather Stewart to Associate, effective from 1st October 2024. These well-deserved promotions reflect the firm’s continued growth and its commitment to fostering a supportive environment that nurtures talent and provides clear pathways for career progression.

Moorcrofts’ culture of continuous learning and professional development is evident through its structured training programmes and opportunities for progression. The firm’s commitment to supporting the growth of its team members ensures that clients benefit from the highest levels of expertise and service.

Since joining the firm, Usha has become a vital member of the Commercial and Technology team. She has extensive experience advising clients across a range of industries on complex legal issues related to technology transactions, software licensing, data protection, and intellectual property. Usha’s expertise also extends to drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, such as technology outsourcing, collaboration, and service agreements. Her in-depth knowledge of telecoms regulatory frameworks and compliance further enhances her ability to support clients in navigating the intricate legal landscape of the technology sector.

Heather began her career at Moorcrofts as a paralegal and then went on to be a trainee solicitor when she finished her legal studies. She has gained valuable experience across multiple departments and developed a comprehensive understanding of the firm’s core areas of expertise. Since qualifying, she has been instrumental in a variety of corporate transactions, with a focus on company acquisitions, disposals, corporate reorganisations, and employee share schemes. Heather’s deep knowledge of corporate governance and her ability to manage complex transactions, including those with international elements, have made her a key contributor to the firm’s success.

Moorcrofts Managing Partner, Teri Hunter, said:

“We are delighted to see Usha and Heather’s hard work and dedication recognised through these well-deserved promotions. Usha’s international experience and deep knowledge in technology and commercial law, along with Heather’s expertise in corporate governance and transactions, significantly strengthen our team. Their promotions reflect not only their personal achievements but also Moorcrofts’ commitment to supporting and developing our talented professionals. We are excited to see them continue to flourish in their new roles.”
