Moorcrofts is delighted to announce its Joint Managing Partner and Head of Technology, Andrew Katz was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in the 10th Edition of The Best Lawyers™ in the UK 2022 in the field of Information Technology Law.

Recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. Its methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area. Best Lawyers employs a sophisticated, conscientious, rational, and transparent survey process designed to elicit meaningful and substantive evaluations of the quality of legal services.

Teri Hunter, Joint Managing Partner at Moorcrofts said:

“We’re delighted Andrew has been selected and mentioned in The Best Lawyers™ UK 2022 Edition for his outstanding expertise in Information Technology Law. This award is richly deserved, as Andrew continues to positively impact the technology industry and has spearheaded Moorcrofts to become the UK’s leading practice for Open Source licence compliance and one of the top practices in the world for Open Hardware licence advice and compliance.”

Andrew has practised technology law for nearly 30 years. In that time, he has become one of the UK’s leading free and open source software lawyers. In January 2021, he was named as top 100 influencer in Open Hardware on OpenUK’s Inaugural New Year’s Honours List. He is also nominated Open Hardware expert for the winning team for the European Union’s flagship policy research study on Open Source software and Open Hardware to take place throughout 2020/2021 (winning team is OFE and Fraunhofer SIS). He was nominated expert in 3 out of a total of 5 bids, giving him a claim to being Europe’s leading expert on Open Hardware licensing.
